Precise adjustments. Hands-on care. A clear reason behind every treatment — for better outcomes that last.

Dr. Roberts, DC performing a spinal adjustment

Chiropractic care is the foundation of how we approach the body.

When a joint is restricted or moving poorly, the surrounding muscles compensate, tissues become overloaded, and pain follows. Chiropractic care is the first step in breaking that cycle — restoring normal joint motion so the rest of your body can work the way it was designed to.

Chiropractic at Sierra Spine & Fitness is built around lasting outcomes. Each adjustment is paired with soft-tissue work, movement re-education, and load-based rehabilitation so the correction actually holds. Dr. Roberts, DC uses hands-on examination and movement assessment to find the joints that are restricted, the tissues that are overloaded, and the movement patterns driving the problem — then matches the adjustment to what your body actually needs on that day.

The result is care that addresses why the pain started in the first place, not just the pain itself.

What chiropractic can help with

Conditions We Commonly Treat

Chiropractic care is effective for a wide range of musculoskeletal complaints, including:

  • Back pain and low-back pain
  • Neck pain and stiffness
  • Headaches and cervicogenic headaches
  • Whiplash and auto-injury recovery
  • Joint pain and stiffness (shoulder, hip, knee, ankle)
  • Extremity joint dysfunction
  • Restricted or painful movement after injury
  • Sports and overuse injuries
  • Postural and movement-related strain

Many of these conditions are covered in depth on our specialty pages — where chiropractic care is paired with regenerative therapies and progressive rehabilitation for the specific tissue involved.

Chiropractic neurology

An Adjustment Is a Neurological Event, Not Just a Mechanical One

Modern chiropractic research has changed how we understand what an adjustment actually does. The spine is densely packed with sensory receptors — especially the muscle spindles in the small paraspinal muscles that monitor joint position and movement. When a spinal segment becomes restricted or dysfunctional, the altered input from those receptors is no longer just a local problem. It changes the signals your nervous system receives, and over time those altered signals can drive maladaptive changes in the brain itself.

This is the core of the research led by Dr. Heidi Haavik and colleagues at the Centre for Chiropractic Research. Using somatosensory evoked potentials, EEG source localization, and transcranial magnetic stimulation, their work has shown that a single session of chiropractic spinal manipulation produces measurable neuroplastic changes in the brain — specifically in the primary sensory cortex, primary motor cortex, prefrontal cortex, basal ganglia, and cerebellum.

In one key study, Haavik and colleagues demonstrated that adjusting dysfunctional spinal segments changed processing in the prefrontal cortex — the region responsible for executive function, sensorimotor integration, and coordination of movement. The prefrontal cortex is what ties together the varied improvements seen after chiropractic care: better joint position sense, faster reaction time, improved cortical processing, more accurate motor control, and even stronger lower-limb muscle force output.

In other words, the adjustment is far more than moving a stiff joint. It is changing how the brain perceives, integrates, and controls the body. Restoring healthy sensory input from the spine appears to help the nervous system recalibrate — which is why care at Sierra Spine & Fitness is built around improving how your whole system functions, for better outcomes across the board.

How an adjustment works

Restoring Motion for Better Outcomes

A chiropractic adjustment is a precise, controlled movement applied to a specific joint that is restricted or not moving correctly. The goal is to restore normal range of motion, reduce irritation to surrounding nerves and tissues, and improve how different regions of the body move together.

Dr. Roberts, DC adjusts both the spine and the extremities — shoulders, hips, knees, ankles, wrists — because the body works as one connected system. A restricted ankle can drive knee pain; a stiff upper back can load the shoulder. Finding and treating the actual source of restriction is what makes care effective.

At Sierra Spine & Fitness, an adjustment is never the whole treatment. It is paired with soft-tissue work, mobility and movement re-education, and progressive rehabilitation so the improved motion becomes a lasting change rather than a temporary one.

Chiropractic inside the Sierra Spine Model

One Connected System — Diagnose, Treat, Load, Adapt

Chiropractic care fits inside a larger framework. Adjustments restore the movement options your body needs — but recovery depends on reinforcing that motion and building the capacity to handle the demands of your life. Our approach follows four connected steps:

STEP 1

Find the Problem

Identify the restricted joints, irritated tissues, and the movement or loading patterns driving the complaint.

STEP 2

Restore Motion

Use precise chiropractic adjustments and hands-on care to improve joint motion and reduce mechanical restriction.

STEP 3

Reinforce the Change

Pair each adjustment with soft-tissue work, movement re-education, and progressive load so the correction holds.

STEP 4

Build Capacity

Prepare your body for the demands that matter — from everyday life to work, exercise, and sport.

See it. Treat it. Load it. Restore it.

Why patients choose Sierra Spine & Fitness

A Different Kind of Chiropractic Visit

  • Every visit begins with examination — not a one-size-fits-all adjustment
  • Diagnostic ultrasound is used to see the tissues involved, not just feel them
  • Adjustments are paired with soft-tissue work and movement re-education
  • Progressive rehabilitation reinforces the correction so it holds
  • Regenerative therapies (shockwave, EMTT, laser) available when the tissue needs more than manual care alone
  • Honest referral when another type of care is the better answer

Patients often arrive having been told their only options are medication, rest, or surgery. Chiropractic care offers a different path — one that keeps you moving, measures progress objectively, and rebuilds the capacity your body needs to stay active for the long haul.
